The crossover between digital and offset depends on format and finishing, but as a rule digital wins below a few hundred units and offset wins above a few thousand.

Colour and consistency considerations

If hang tags must carry a corporate colour, ask how the supplier achieves it and what tolerance will be accepted, because presses, inks and substrates all shift the result.

Substrate and finishing limits

The substrate for hang tags constrains the process, because thick boards, coarse papers and non-paper materials narrow the choice of press that can run them.

Finishing such as foil, embossing, lamination and die-cutting is priced separately and can decide which process is viable for the order as a whole.
