Procurement teams in South Korea are consolidating their plastic pallets supply base, which raises the bar on documentation, consistency and delivery discipline. It is written for Garden Centres and covers specification, supplier checks, pricing and the paperwork that protects the order.
Keep an approved golden sample sealed at the factory and a matching one in your office. Agree in writing what happens if the inspection fails, including who pays for rework and re-inspection. Test the product the way a customer would use it, because laboratory conditions hide the failures that matter. Insist on a pre-shipment inspection against an AQL plan, with the report sent to you before the goods leave.
Ask what the price would be at double the quantity; the answer shows how much of the quote is fixed cost. Ask for a cost breakdown by component; it turns a price argument into a specification conversation. A small upgrade in material or packaging changes the cost meaningfully, so price two specifications side by side.
Specify composition, weight and tolerance in numbers, not adjectives. A good plastic pallet starts with the HDPE or recycled HDPE, so agree the material grade before you discuss price. For plastic pallets, the construction matters as much as the material: watch the deck grid and leg reinforcement.
Photograph the packed pallet before it leaves the factory; it settles most damage arguments before they start. Plan the sailing, not the shipping date: the production calendar should work backwards from the arrival window. Cartons for plastic pallets should be specified with board grade, carton size and a drop-test requirement. Insist on moisture protection in transit, because damp cartons are a common cause of mould and corrosion claims.
Look at how raw material and finished goods are stored; dusty or damp warehouses are a reliable predictor of claims. Ask for the names of two buyers already running plastic pallets programmes and speak to them directly. Request the production schedule before you pay the deposit, so you can see where your order sits. Confirm who owns the moulds, the artwork and the tooling, especially if you intend to reorder the same design next season.
Ask for social compliance documentation such as a BSCI, Sedex or WRAP audit dated within the last twelve months. Chemical and packaging rules differ by market, so confirm the destination requirements before you finalise the packing spec. For South Korea, check the labelling rules on material content, care instructions and country of origin before printing.
If you sign the specification, seal the sample, book the inspection, confirm the packing and file the documents, the order takes care of itself.
